Verizon/Nokia launched www.joinstarfleetacademy.com two weeks before the release of Paramount's Star Trek. Besides bringing the Starfleet Academy to life, it also included the game - The Hunt For Nero - with a grand prize of an actual trip to space.

The Dark Knight Handset & Content Promotion

Part of the promotion between Verizon Wireless, Nokia, and Warner Brothers was a website that included a seven week online game that allowed players to battle for a trip to Gotham City (New York). The site was designed to bring Gotham to life, allowed players to choose sides and try to take over the city street by street. It also featured content from the film, as well as a popular attraction that allowed visitors to send photographs of friends and have them commited to Arkham Asylum.

At the height of the films popularity, fightforgothamcity.com was averaging more than a thousand hits per week over the official Warner Brothers/The Dark Knight site.
